What does the process involve?
- First, we need to get in touch with
you to assess your individual scenario. This gives you a
chance to ask questions and get to know us as well as find
out how much you are eligible for. Click here to fill out
our inquiry form and we will have a Senior Advisor contact
you.
- One of our trusted Senior Advisors
will meet with you in person to fill out all of the upfront
paperwork.
- You must attend a counseling session
either in person or over the phone. This takes less than an
hour and is free to you. HUD/ FHA requires this session be
completed by every single reverse mortgage borrower. This
ensures that all of your questions about the program are
answered completely and you are in full understanding of how
the program works. We will provide all of the information
you need to complete this step.
- An appraiser and a termite inspector
(for homes in CA) will come out to your home to inspect the
condition of your property and evaluate the market value of
your house.
- Once all of the required items and
inspections are fulfilled, you will then go to closing. The
closing session is held at a place convenient for you,
usually in your home. A notary will arrive at your home and
walk you through the closing documents.
- After your closing session, you will
enter the “three day right of rescission”. This law gives
you three days to let everything settle in and one last
chance cancel your loan should you choose.
- After the “three day right of
rescission”, your loan will fund. If you requested cash at
closing, you will receive your check via overnight mail or
direct deposit.
- Last but not least, you spend the
rest of your life enjoying the benefits of the reverse
mortgage.
